Desexing
Desexing is a day surgery procedure usually performed on cats and dogs around 6 months of age.
We first check your pet's health to minimise all risks prior to surgery. Our specialised monitoring equipment ensures safety during anaesthesia.
Your pet should be free to go back home the same day.
Desexing prevents neighbourhood pets wandering in search of mates and reduces the number of unwanted puppies and kittens.
It can reduce territorial behaviour in males, as well as testicular and prostatic cancer. In females, desexing can reduce the incidence of mammary, uterine and ovarian cancer and uterine infection.

Vaccinations
We protect kittens, puppies, cats and dogs by vaccinating them against debilitating and often fatal diseases.
Scheduled vaccinations prevent canine distemper, hepatitis, kennel cough and parvovirus in dogs and feline enteritis, AIDS and flu in cats.
An up-to-date vaccination is a requirement if you need to leave your pet with a boarding kennel even for a short stay.
Vaccinations are generally done from 6 weeks of age. Regular vaccinations thereafter will protect your pet from serious diseases.

We conduct regular consultations at Harbour City Vet Surgery - every weekday (open 8am- 6pm) and Saturday (open 8am-12pm).
In the qualified and caring hands of our experienced vets, your pet will be weighed and thoroughly health-checked - eyes, ears, coat, teeth, heart, lungs, abdomen and limbs.
We offer professional advice to keep your pet in optimum health, whether you have dogs, cats, birds, mice, rats, guinea pigs or other four-legged friends.

Fleas, ticks and intestinal worms are common problems. We have a range of products to help prevent these nasty parasites, including heartworm medication, flea collars and anti-tick spray.
When it comes to paralysis ticks, there is no substitute for carefully going over your pet's coat on a daily basis. Don't waste time if your pet shows any sign of tick toxicity. Bring them to our clinic straight away. Tick toxin needs immediate treatment.
Proper nutrition, a balanced diet and adequate fresh water is essential to your pet's quality of life.
Our team knows the nutritional requirements of small animals and birds. We will recommend the best food for your pet.
We stock specially formulated wet and dry food, including prescription diets for specific health conditions and age-appropriate food.

At Harbour City Vet Surgery, you get all the advantages of digital radiographic, ultrasound and laser therapy technology.
Radiography is used to detect problems with skeletal and soft tissue anatomy.
Ultrasound can detect diseases of internal organs, the bladder and intestines, without the need for invasive surgery.
Laser therapy achieves excellent results in treating injuries to muscles, tendons, ligaments, connective tissue, bones and skin conditions.
If your pet is injured or unwell, contact us today.
Regular dental attention can help your pet's teeth stay clean and strong and ensure their breath is fresh.
Just like us, animals need healthy teeth and gums to properly chew food and benefit from the nutrients and vitamins in their diet. Tooth decay means bacteria from the mouth can enter the blood stream leading to possible kidney and heart disease.
Let our qualified experts remove tartar and prevent the onset of early dental disease. If your pet is affected by an advanced dental condition, we also perform extractions and gum surgery.
